Welcome to Jaban Siberians located in Port Saint John, Florida

        Port Saint John

Port Saint John had its beginnings established early in History. Although there is evidence of early Viking visits to the region, the first recorded arrival of Europeans was the landing of Samuel de Champlain at the mouth of the St. John River in 1604. It was June 24, St. John the Baptist's Day, and thus the city and the Port were named. Florida is appropriately named *the Sunshine state* and is home to many wonderful sunsets!

        Jaban Siberian

A little about Jaban: Hi, my name is Nancy. I have always liked cats as far back as I can remember. But it was only a few years ago that I seriously took an interest in the professional cat fancy. I began my search on the Internet to learn about the different breeds of cats. Once armed with information, I attended some local cat shows for the purpose of seeing Pedigree cats up close and personal. I was considering Ragdolls, but I had an allergy concern with one of my children. Along the way, I met Lynda Nelson Of Kravchenko Siberians at an ACFA show and was introduced into the Siberian cat world. The rest, as they say is history..........

        The History

The Siberian Cat is one of the oldest natural cat breeds dating back for 1000 years. They originate in Russia where the winters are long and harsh. Siberians have a wonderful dense coat when raised in cold climates but the fur is rather soft. An added plus is that the Siberian despite the longer coat, is non-matting. They are gentle, loyal, loving, very playful and have dog-like personalities, as they come when they are called. Their ability to jump and gracefully climb into high places is second to none, in the feline world.

        Non Allergenic Qualities:

In 1995 Breeder Lynda Nelson of Kravchenko Siberians accidentally discovered the non -allergic qualities, sometimes referred to as hypo-allergenic qualities, of the Siberian cat.

The theory is that the Siberian produces little or no dander, thus allowing allergy sufferers the pleasure of being in the companionship of the Siberian Cat without runny eyes, sneezing and their breathing being compromised. Scientists state that it is likely the Fel-D1 protein usually found in the cat's saliva, and drying as dander on the coat as the culprit, and an enemy of millions of allergy sufferers.

Empirical analysis would indicate that the Siberian is indeed somewhat unique and special. Today 14 years after the Siberian was first imported from Russia, thousands of allergy sufferers that are also cat lovers, now have these wonderful feline companions in their homes. In may cases, these same people now shared their home with more than one Siberian kitty.

Please check back often and I Hope you enjoy your visit. Please feel free to contact me with your important questions!
